Fact-checking the mayoral race

Plus, meet the candidates running to replace Eleanor Holmes Norton

Happy Monday!

As the mayoral race heats up, accusations have been flying between the candidates. But how many of them are actually true? In a two-part installment, we fact-checked recent attacks, including assertions that Janeese Lewis George will defund the police and the heat McDuffie is taking for the city losing millions in potential sports betting revenue. Check back for part two tomorrow.

And for the first time in 30 years, there's a competitive race to fill D.C.’s delegate to Congress, a non-voting position that has taken on new significance as the city faces repeated attacks on its independence from the Trump administration. We interviewed all five candidates who are vying for Eleanor Holmes Norton's job.

Looking to hear from the people running to be D.C.'s delegate directly? Join us in person this Thursday, May 14th for a lively debate, presented in partnership with Spotlight DC and The Washington Informer at Sycamore and Oak. RSVP Here.
