This free, youth-led open mic series is held monthly on every second Wednesday at the Black-owned bookstore. Hosted by 2025 Youth Poet Laureate and Howard freshman Kai Diata Giovanni and poet Jayden Antwine, the series centers poetry as a revolution work.
Extinction Rebellion DC intro call

Fantom Comics fundraiser for La ColectiVA

Catch some live music and a drag for a cause. Featuring an acoustic set from local musical artist Fictionals and drag performances from Hoang, Zaddie Cool, Marciano, and Ant Honey, the show benefits La Colectiva, an organization supporting Virginia families separated by ICE. Free DC Ward 7 local business canvass

Part of Free DC's campaign to build solidarity for Home Rule across D.C.'s local businesses, this canvass will focus on bringing Ward 7 businesses into the fold. All materials and a brief training will be provided, along with a canvassing partner β who will have done this work before, if you're new to it. You do not have to have attended a Free DC orientation to join, although that's preferred. RSVP here.

Craft fundraiser for Gaza at City State

Watermelon Wares and Friends of Friends Collective are hosting a craft market and workshop fair, where you can browse handmade goods, attend a beading workshop, or even make your own keychain. The event is free to enter, and/or you can pay $50 to attend up to two craft workshops. All funds will go to support families displaced from Gaza. Get your tickets here.
