The Greeks may have been onto something with the whole Persephone thing: this spring really does feel like we're emerging from the pits of hell.
Given the constant attacks on D.C.'s autonomy and the "cesspool" rhetoric hurled at the District from our federal neighbors, we figured we'd celebrate one of D.C.'s most special and beautiful traits — its spring — by showcasing some moments witnessed by our readers. We may still be in a living hell, but at least the temperatures and the flowers are reaching up!

"Photos around LeDroit Park/Bloomingdale (LeBloomingDroit, if you will). I do daily morning walks around here and it’s been entertaining to see the slow but promising growth." - Max R.

"Feb. 23, on one of my rooftop beehives in River Terrace. This was the first really warm day, and the bees were out in large numbers. It's always a relief to see them alive after winter." - Katie Murphy

"I took these photos on a self-care day. I love to buy a little treat and walk around for hours admiring the trees, especially with friends. I think the limited longevity of the blossoms makes them truly special. You gotta get out there and enjoy them now! Wait too long and you'll miss them. The magenta peach blossoms were spotted by the Botanic Garden and the gorgeous Okame cherry blossoms were in Long Bridge Park. The star magnolia tree is in Lincoln Park." - Kevin.
